Every Saturday morning there’s an informal car show in the parking lot at the Mazda USA offices in Irvine, California. The event is organized but also organic.  

For years “Fun Under the Sun”  has been known as the “Knotts Berry Farm”  Handcrafted Auto Show AHA.  This year the Kit Car Show is being held in Pomona Ca, www.fairplex.com Saturday April 24th, 2010 at the NHRA Museum Parking Lot.

06/25/09 While we’re working on the chassis and suspension, the first real dp4 body is now out of the mold at Contactscale.

06/24/09 We are now building the chassis. Suspension arms are first because the fixtures are already done and it’s an easy part on which to sort out some processes and test the tools.

04/13/09 Work continues full speed at Contactscale and as these pictures show, the mold is now complete and ready for the first body to be made.

02/01/09 Got some additional pictures of the plug being prepped. It’s pretty hard to take pictures of a large white object in bright sunlight so these are a bit over-exposed, but they give an idea of what this device will look like in real life.

01/03/09 Just finished a short trip to San Francisco. A bit south of the city, in San Jose, is where the dp4 plug and tooling are being made by Contactscale.

12/16/08 Did a few more renderings, with the final version of the bodywork…

12/13/08 The diffs are here. These are similar to the ones in the dp1 prototype and also come from TRE. What I’m buying is just the cores which is the ‘guts’ of the diff – custom aluminum end-bells will be machined to complete the assembly.

12/09/08 Well, it’s about time this little device got a page of its own. Conceptually the design has been around for a couple of years, but only in my head.
